Defense Production Supervisor

Summary

In this role, the Production Supervisor will provide directions and coordinate all productive resources available in the Defense manufacturing process for the Greensburg location. This individual will lead non-exempt direct production and technician reports in the attainment of established production standards, goals and objectives including those associated with safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and other key performance indicators according to Hyperion standards.

In this position, majority of the time will be spent on the floor helping assign priorities to the team, allocate resources in different processes, hire and train operators on how to set up and operate CNC grinders, inspect finished parts, and support production flow for Defense parts.

The Supervisor mission will be to manage and coordinate all the productive resources available in its section(s), guaranteeing effective compliance with manufacturing programs, and ensuring compliance with established quality, cost, and safety standards, as well as the use of best operating practices and a good working environment among employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health and safety of the workforce and comply with Hyperion policies and applicable governmental EHS regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with company values and current company policies.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate KPI’s to monitor the performance of the team including safety, quality, delivery, cost, and other applicable metrics.
  • Execute and supervise the production programs in which the production under your command is involved.
  • Distribute the workloads between the sections and shifts assigning workers the different jobs according to their abilities.
  • Hire, train, and develop new employees during growth periods.
  • Ensure proper administration and use of consumer materials.
  • Propose optimizations in operations and procedures.
  • Encourage and motivate the team or section under your command to achieve manufacturing objectives.
  • Control and monitor the optimal performance of equipment, machines, and people.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and OSHA regulations.

Education and/or Work Experience

  • B.S. degree in business or engineering preferred.
  • Minimum experience of 2 years in functions of leading and/or supervisor roles and / or coordinator of production teams in a manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • Ability to be resourceful, demonstrate business acumen, creative thinking skills and be able to act as a decision maker.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal / teamwork and leadership skills. Must possess ability to influence people to achieve department and plant mission, vision, and objectives.
  • Ability to utilize Lean Manufacturing principles, and maintenance accurate throughput and quality records.
  • Demonstrated result orientation, independent performance, and ability to effectively balance priorities and multiple tasks to achieve production goals and provide timely communication as it impacts stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, lean thinking and statistical process control skills are desired.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage resources and workflow are essential.
  • Able to work shifted schedule when required to ensure direct reports are trained and developed.
  • Knowledge on M3 ERP or similar ERP is preferred
  • Dynamic, methodical and organized. 
  • Strong leadership skills and team orientation; ability to lead change.
  • Analytical, decisive and autonomous.
