Customer Service & Production Planner

Summary

This job opportunity is with Aggressive Grinding Service. Responsible for all facets of planning manufacturing orders to satisfy customer demands and inventory levels. Functions as the liaison between manufacturing, customer service and sales globally with responsibility for building and maintaining customer relationships with proactive and timely communication, creating an efficient order /contract process and ensuring and providing necessary information to manufacturing team.  Facilitates the order process to include preparing estimates, order entry, system maintenance, production planning, and inventory management.  Ensures uninterrupted supply of material and services to the Production unit with a focus on delivery quality and cost.  Issues and schedules purchase order based on production plans, MRP suggestions and manual requisitions.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Find, research and cultivate a relationship with prospective customers.
  • Follow-up on leads and referrals, assessing and qualifying them as sales opportunities.
  • Build a rapport and trust with customers through phone calls, emails, online meetings and in-person meetings.
  • Use sales processes and value selling to uncover the needs of customers and demonstrate how Hyperion M&T can meet their needs.
  • Review customer requests for quotes.  Analyze the feasibility to manufacture the part at AGS or refer request to another Precision Solutions entity.
  • Build appropriate route to manufacture part and provide customer with an accurate cost estimate.
  • Order material as needed. Special tooling or fixturing as needed
  • Work together with Sales and Customer Service to provide world class service to Key Accounts.
  • Learn and cultivate product and application knowledge to respond to customer questions.
  • Obtain relevant information to process and resolve customer inquiries, requests or concerns.
  • Conducts contract review on incoming orders to ensure customer requirements are captured.
  • Proactively communicates with customers managing final sizing process and organizing proper shipping channels based on order size and delivery requirements.
  • Responds to customer specific questions on open purchase requisitions, communicates and resolves all shipping related tracking/documentation, assist sales with quoting as needed or requested, and order status reporting to customer.
  • Initiate manufacturing process by contacting customer via phone and email to confirm order details and specifications.  Responsible for acknowledging all orders received. Enters orders in system to begin production.  
  • Facilitates customer demands/needs with Hyperion Stakeholders such as: Sales, Planning, Quality, Production, etc. to ensure all customer inquiries are addressed.
  • Collaborates with Sales & Segment teams on supplied quotes to CRM including verification of order.
  • Follows up on open quotes and provides updates and feedback to Sales team.
  • Issues vendor purchase orders to support operational requirements.
  • Reviews manufacturing order progress to identify and resolve manufacturing delays.
  • Provides confirmation and updates of delivery dates to customers and Sales.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves internal issues including incorrect stock quantities, missing material, incorrect shipments and adjustments in M3 system. 
  • Monitors open orders to ensure on-time delivery of material to production.
  • Expedites and adjusts purchase orders to accommodate changes in the production plan.
  • Ensures compliance to Hyperion’s global procurement policy.
  • Delivers cost improvements through policy compliance.
  • Ensures satisfaction of internal stakeholders providing quality and timely buying of services
  • Supports the development and implementation of local sourcing strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with, and use of, global and local contracts.
  • Coordinate and support Safety audits.
  • Generate and interpret data which supports and enhances Operational KPI’s.
  • Communicate with professionalism and integrity when working with the Customer, Cross Functional Teams, and the entire organization.

Education and/or Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a technical or business focus preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in a manufacturing/materials role environment or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Must possess ability to influence people to achieve department and plant mission, vision and objectives. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be effective in working with and maintaining relationships with all levels of employee at plant and corporate levels.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization and execute across multiple functions,
  • Ability to be resourceful, demonstrate business acumen and critical thinking skills and make sound decisions. 
  • Familiarity and competency with computers, databases and ERP systems.
  • Must be a self-starter and highly motivated.
  • Experience with customer order entry of industrial business-to-business products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
