Customer Service & Production Planner

Summary

In this role, the Customer Service & Production Planner will work closely with the sales team, operations team, and other key stakeholders to meet customer service and regrinding needs.  The Customer Service & Production Planner will interact daily with other manufacturing sites including Hyperion Production Units (Barcelona, AGS, Durametal). The Customer Service & Production Planner will review Customer needs, incoming service orders, and production capacity to prioritize and align production of new and service orders based on resources (machines and labor) to meet Hyperion’s targets. The ideal candidate has B2B experience, a strong ERP background, and high performance/potential with ambition for upward mobility within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with sales and operations to review service orders and specifications.
  • Work with Hyperion Production Units and subcontractors/ external vendors to ensure best in class service order processing and execution. 
  • Support logistical needs to the shipping department while importing or exporting goods.
  • Work with ERP to setup new items, production routings, and load accurate cost models based on determined process steps.  
  • Release manufacturing orders or purchase orders for production/ external vendors.
  • Engage with supervisors to follow-up and provide priorities based on customer input. 
  • Work with outside sales to gain an accurate forecast and use the data for appropriate capacity planning and job scheduling.
  • Keep customers and outside sales updated on order progress and delays.  
  • Engage with grinding operators to improve job routing and process steps.  Assist with troubleshooting first piece job flows and make corrections with the operators on the floor as appropriate.
  • Participate in key customer meetings as needed to build customer relationships and confidence.

Education and/or Work Experience

B.S. degree in business, supply chain or engineering preferred.

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and the GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) associated with that drawing.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage resources and workflow are essential.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems with a strong emphasis on Order Management to Invoicing processes in a B2B environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal / teamwork and leadership skills. Must possess ability to influence people to achieve department and plant mission, vision, and objectives.
  • Ability to utilize Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Demonstrated results orientation, independent performance, and ability to effectively balance priorities and multiple tasks to achieve production goals and provide timely communication as it impacts stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, lean thinking and statistical process control skills are desired.
  • Ability to be resourceful, demonstrate business acumen, creative thinking skills and be able to act as a decision maker.
