CNC Grinding Operator

Summary
This position is responsible for setting up and operating all grinding equipment, and ensuring that we conform to all applicable safety, customer, quality, and environmental standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in team initiatives to identify and resolve safety issues.
- Participation in developing LEAN solutions throughout manufacturing.
- Perform Incoming Inspections
- Accurately use Micrometers
- Interprets complicated drawings, instructions, and process sheets to determine work to be done.
- Performs diversified operations on manual grinding and CNC equipment.
- Reviews specifications to determine machining sequences and dimensions of finished work piece.
- Attaches fixtures to machine and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to setup instructions.
- Selects and installs proper grinding wheel on spindle. Dresses wheel as necessary to generate correct form.
- Performs a variety of inspection and gauging operations to insure maintenance of quality standards and specifications.
- Records readings as necessary in inspection reports.
- Complete ownership for housekeeping in assigned work area.

Education and/or Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Technical Skills/Physical Requirements
- Good interpersonal, cooperative and team -oriented skills and behaviors
- Proven independent performer that needs minimal supervision
- Ability to use production management tools including LEAN, material management systems, and maintenance of accurate throughput and quality records.
- Manual dexterity required to accurately handle and position parts.
- Walking and standing on the shop floor for extended periods throughout the day.
- Lifting and transport of materials (20-40 lbs).
- Ability to comprehend and apply experience and training to successfully perform duties listed above.
- Ability to effectively balance priorities and multiple tasks to achieve overall production goals.
- Must be available to work overtime during periods of high order volume.
- Basic computer literacy (email, data entry into required systems, MSN Office)
