Field Application Engineer & Business Development for Regrinding

Summary: The Field Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical assistance to customers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical support for the rotary cutting team and customers: commissioning, troubleshooting, operator training.
  • Understand customers’ production processes when they interact with our tools.
  • Analyze customer specifications and gather all required information for designing new products.
  • Support the design office in creating tools and systems that meet customer requirements at optimal cost.
  • Participate in risk analysis for new products and high‑risk projects; organize project meetings.
  • Perform customer material analysis (if at production site). - Conduct CRC/CC expertise. - Provide support to re‑sharpening centers.
  • Manage technical documentation of products in PDM‑Link.
  • Manage technical training for internal teams and customers.
  • Contribute to design rules for rotary knives, stations, and anvils. - Contribute to R&D projects as project lead or team member.
  • Monitor technical developments in the field to remain innovative.
  • Follow production tests.
  • Organize and manage customer visits and business travel (up to 60% of the time).
  • Contribute to managing and resolving non‑quality reports and CCF; propose corrective actions.
  • Maintain strong working relationships to support teamwork.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Contacts with customers to develop specifications and provide technical support.
  • Contacts with sales management teams to ensure projects meet timeline expectations.
  • Contacts with design office, methods, and production for developing new production methods or new products.
  • Contacts with Quality for monitoring FNC/CCF and corrective actions.
  • Contacts with the CRC team for training and technical documentation.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure proper commissioning and troubleshooting of tools sold to customers.
  • Conduct risk analysis on orders, bringing field expertise.
  • Provide field knowledge to internal Hyperion services.
  • Support the customers and Hyperion team across APAC.

Performance Control: Monitoring high‑risk projects (risk analyses, kick‑off and production launch meetings). Number of CCFs (at start‑up, linked to high‑risk projects, others). 

 

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Master’s degree (BAC+5) in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 10+ years experience in related field.
  • Able to communicate in written and spoken English.
  • Customer‑oriented. Good communicator.
  • Rigorous, precise, well organized. Multi‑tasking.
  • Proactive: seeks information rather than waiting for it.
  • Able to work in a team. - Able to read industrial technical drawings.
  • Able to work within a transversal hierarchy.

Travel: The person is required to travel 50-60% of the time. He/she is required to travel once in every quarter to France.
