Sales Engineer - Perth

Summary:  The prime focus of this role will be servicing an existing customer base, as well as leveraging experience from existing markets to develop new relationships and expand business.

 

Key Performance Areas:

Reporting to the Regional General Manager AU/NZ, the Sales Engineer will be responsible for promoting and selling the range of Hard and Super-hard materials and tools (Cemented Carbide, diamond and CBN) products within an allocated region, predominantly into the Agribusiness and Mining Sectors.

 

Key customer focus areas will include Toolmakers, Mining OEM and Aftermarket Manufacturing, and General Engineering markets where moderate to extreme wear resistance is paramount.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop individual sales plans; achieve sales targets by executing the plans.
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to toolmakers & potentially end users in respective markets and applications
  • Assist customers in the selection of appropriate tooling and, products & grades.
  • Leveraging an existing customer base to expand and grow a new customer base
  • Updating & ownership of own CRM data, managing the sales funnel, submitting reports on sales activities and area development to achieve sales budget.
  • Ability to ‘sell without a catalogue’!
  • Maintain an up-to-date product knowledge of the Hyperion Products range
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the customer’s requirements
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics and competitor offerings.
  • Adhere to all Hyperion Policies & Procedures  

 

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must have at minimum a trade background, bringing technical aptitude with good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at various levels and a willingness to learn and work in a growing team. Additionally, working knowledge of material science in the  Cemented Carbide or Synthetic Diamond is desirable

 

Education and/or Work Experience:

  • 2 – 4 years technical sales experience or relevant industry experience is essential
  • Knowledge or work experience in process manufacturing or toolmaking industries would be advantageous - ie Toolmaking,  dissimilar material Brazing, Process Engineering, Tungsten Carbide or Diamond tool manufacture,  but is not essential.
  • An engineering background with minimum trade qualifications is required for this role, Mechanical or Material Technology background would be highly regarded.
  • Candidates with both Sales and Industrial experience is welcomed, particularly from the Agriculture tillage point manufacture, Mining Crushing, HPGR, Conveyer cleaning, Drilling sector
  • A commitment to improving customer productivity through “Value Selling”
  • Sales data analysis & Computer skills essential
  • Current Drivers License required
  • Must have a Legal Right to Work in Australia

As much as 75% travel
