Material Control Specialist

Summary

This position is accountable for providing clerical support for both the material control and order entry functions. This position focuses on managing material transactions both in and out of the manufacturing operations to ensure the production of quality products made on-time, in the right quantity and in a cost efficient manner in support of the manufacturing strategic objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall inventory levels to ensure availability of materials for production and optimization of days on hand inventory.
  • Enhance current ordering process and overall management of raw materials to avoid material shortages and supplier forecast accuracy.
  • Pro-actively identifies potential supply gaps verses customer demand.
  • Produce the required export documentation for international customers.  
  • Responsible to enter customer returns for credit.  
  • Responsible for entry, ordering, and managing MRO purchases.
  • Responsible for processing customer purchase orders for production.  
  • Manage and support production capacity planning with operations.
  • Provide and communicate with customers on a weekly basis all open order reporting.
  • Initiate process improvements to reduce cost and increase efficiency.
  • Follow established safety procedures and processes.
  • Participate in daily reporting for GEMBA.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Salary Range - $68,000. to $76,000. annually

Education and/or Work Experience

  • B.S.. degree in business or technical field.
  • 5 years’ experience in a materials/manufacturing planning position.
  • Or a combination of education and experience. 

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • Proficient with applications such as Excel/Word.
  • Proven competence with M3 ERP system.
  • Previous system experience with Job Boss preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; with internal, external customers and vendors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  Must be effective in working with and maintaining relationships within all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to be resourceful, demonstrate business acumen and critical thinking skills to make sound decisions.
  • Experience with Kaizen and continuous improvement events.
