Process Engineer-Precision Products (G6)

Summary

The Process Engineer oversees the full lifecycle for product lines within the Hyperion manufacturing facility—driving new product industrialization and sustaining high performance of existing products. This role combines hands-on shop-floor involvement with strong analytical, data-driven decision-making to ensure processes meet customer and internal requirements and deliver consistent, high-quality results. The engineer works closely with Operations and NPD to optimize processes, resolve technical challenges, and advance continuous improvement across the area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead new product industrialization efforts for production lines, ensuring smooth scale-up from development to production.
  • Ensure all customer requirements are met, including customer specific documentation, certifications, and any other compliance needs for products leaving the production area.
  • Assist in resolution of Voice of Customer (VOC) quality issues
  • Ensure all Management of Change (MOC) documentation is thoroughly completed for industrialization of products
  • Identify and execute opportunities to reduce costs, improve manufacturing efficiency, and elevate product quality.
  • Support operational teams in achieving business goals related to scrap reduction, efficiency improvements, quality metrics, and throughput.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, streamline flow, and enhance process robustness in products.
  • Lead and implement capital projects aligned with key initiatives and long-term strategic needs of the broader Finished Component operation.
  • Serve as a liaison between Operations and the New Product Development (NPD) team during product industrialization, addressing technical challenges, capacity constraints, and production readiness requirements.

Education and/or Work Experience

  • BS/MS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Demonstrated record of positively impacting business results through engineering or process improvements.
  • Knowledge of and experience applying lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong data-driven approach to decision-making
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently, self-direct, and take initiative.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design and/or interpreting engineering drawings using GD&T.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in machining applications and tooling design, including experience with grinding, lapping, polishing, and EDM cutting processes.
