Micron Development Engineer

Summary

The Micron Development Engineer is responsible for product development and process development for qualifying new diamond and cBN products.  You will proactively identify new opportunities and applications, and aggressively drive growth for diamond and cBN powders and products.  This role will work on daily basis with Sales and Market Development teams, to lead global qualification efforts of Hyperion Materials & Technologies products in existing markets.  You will be expected to continuously develop your knowledge and expertise, and support your colleagues in their professional growth, in order to increase capabilities to deliver results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop competitive benchmarking and fundamental understanding of micron products applications in areas of fine grinding, lapping, polishing and other applications.
  • Capture and develop new ideas and apply them in a way that adds value to our customers and our business.
  • Share skills and best practice in the relevant area of expertise within own function/ internal networks.
  • Review and improve methods, tools, and processes within the area of expertise.
     

Education and/or Work Experience

You possess a minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemical, or material sciences, and 0-5 years of experience in R&D in a product and/or process development role.   An advanced degree would be preferred, and experience in fine-particle and suspension characterization, processing, and applications, especially in areas of micro-machining for electronics and semiconductor markets would be a strong plus.  Additionally, experience with fine grinding of semiconductor materials and an understanding of the grinding mechanisms would be advantageous.  You possess a proven understanding of quality theory and design concepts and basic understanding of statistics.  

Travel (domestic and international) of up to 20% is expected with this role.
