Americas Regional EHS Manager

Summary

This position will report directly to the Global EHS Director and will assist in fostering a strong safety culture. The EHS Leader is responsible for providing guidance to multiple locations within the organization to assist with the development of a strategic direction for health and safety initiatives that mitigate associated risks. Develops and maintains strong ties with location leadership and EHS personnel regarding implementation of corporate safety programs. Provides technical leadership and guidance to all departments when required regarding health and safety questions and issues. The Hyperion site EHS Managers in the America’s region will report directly to this position.   This position can be based in Columbus, Ohio, or can be remote in the US.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Environmental, Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times. 
  • Will be responsible for leading the America’s region site EHS Managers. 
  • Assist multiple facilities on the development and sustainment of a safety culture 
  • Identify, develop, and implement health and safety initiatives 
  • Conduct assessments for the development of improvement plans and preventative actions 
  • Provide assistance to Hyperion locations on the management of health, and safety compliance 
  • Assist Hyperion locations with conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive strategies & corrective actions 
  • Assists in the development of corporate safety policies, procedures, and initiatives 
  • Drive continuous improvement of safe behaviors and outcomes by delivering methodologies and tools to effectively mitigate identified risks. 
  • Improves employee safety awareness and engagement 
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with standards and safety best practices. 
  • Provides onsite support for Hyperion locations. 
  • Audit locations to ensure conformance with health and safety requirements and corporate standards 
  • Identify corrective and preventive action needs through audits, incident investigations, and observation \/ data trending. 
  • Develop, implement, and refine communication and training to educate leadership and employees on the importance of safe work practices. 
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, project teams, customers, regulators, contractors 
  • Represent the company with OSHA and other regulatory officials

Must be willing and able to travel at least 50% of the time. 
 

Education and/or Work Experience

  • Four-year college degree required in Health and Safety Management or similar 
  • 5-7 years’ experience working in health and safety related programs.
  • CSP preferred 
     

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • This is a safety sensitive position. 
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Thorough knowledge and understanding of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety. Good organization skills. 
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. 
  • Strong decision-making skills. Strong writing skills. 
  • Strong working knowledge of computers. 
  • Basic knowledge of PSM regulations. 
  • Ability to maintain confidential business information.
