Process Engineer (G8)

Summary

:  The Process Engineer will play a critical role in driving material and production efficiencies within a highmix,

lowvolume manufacturing environment. This role contributes directly to the overall success of the business by

reducing cost and lead time across multiple value streams that support a diverse global customer base. The

ideal candidate will have experience as a handson technical problem solver in a fastpaced, mixedmodel lean

manufacturing environment, along with demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, planning, and execution of

key initiatives and programs.

 

Proven leadership experience is expected in one or more of the following areas: materials engineering,

technical problem solving, lean manufacturing, design of experiments, and lean daily management. This role

requires a highly motivated professional who can work independently, communicate effectively across all levels

of the organization, and apply sound technical problemsolving methodologies. The successful candidate will be

skilled in analyzing performance data and presenting findings clearly, logically, and concisely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes involved in production.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, improve quality, and reduce cost.
  • Work closely with operational team, sales, customer service to achieve goals and strategic projects.
  • Identify new processes and provide technical support for developing process documents and equipment troubleshooting guidelines (CNC).
  • Directly support successful implementation of new products in high mix/low volume line at or below target cost and lead time.
  • Support problem solving for contract review; quoting order entry and other front end process improvement needs related to accuracy, quality, lead tiem and cost.
  • Process customer purchase orders as well as manufacturing order entry for production.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience

  • 2 years Engineering sciences, BA or BS preferred; or a equivalent of higher education and experience.
  • Lean daily management, and high mix/low volume production environment a plus
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment with increasing responsibility
  • Good customer communication skills in support of internal and external customers.
  • Must have good written and verbal commination skills.
  • Proficient with presentation and other documentation applications such as Visio, MS Project and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read and interpret product drawings.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred in grinding operations:  Carbide / Ceramics / or steel products.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving processes and tools i.e. Project Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma.

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • Proven problem-solving capabilities; proficient in use of problem-solving-tools (5-Why, A3, Noise to Constant, DOE)
  • Demonstrated implementation of lean principles and/or six sigma methodologies
  • Must have excellent data analysis skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills are a must
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • Communicates effectively with customers, vendors to determine products specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Drafting - use of CAD or Solid works
  • Travel generally not required
