Assistant Shop Maintenance

Summary

Maintains cleanliness, safety and functionality of interior and exterior of building. Position requires a combination of cleaning expertise, minor maintenance skills, and attention to detail, making it essential for the comfort and safety of employees, clients, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cleans and sanitizes – sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, steam cleans floors, dusting surfaces, washing windows and mirrors and wiping down equipment and furniture in all areas of the building.
  • Restroom maintenance – cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking restrooms with paper products, soap, and air fresheners.   
  • Waste management – empties trash and recycling bins, removing debris, and ensuring proper disposal. Clean trash bins as needed.
  • Outdoor tasks – plants flowers, maintains flower beds, sweeps walkways, clears snow/leaves from entrances. Salts walkways, cleans picnic tables and smoking area.
  • Manages inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Works with supervisor on restocking said items.
  • Weighs and removes recyclables from shipping.  Removes scrap carbide within the facility.
  • Completes maintenance check sheets
  • Conducts minor repairs and inspections – replacing light bulbs, repairing doors or windows, inspects utilities like smoke detectors and HVAC systems, and cleans machine coolant tank.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • General knowledge of minor maintenance repairs.
  • High school diploma or GED.
