Quality Engineer

Summary

The Hyperion Materials & Technologies Quality Engineer will perform activities necessary to assure compliance of the production unit quality management system to ISO 9001:2015 standard. The Quality Engineer will engage in improvement activities to support the strategic direction of continuous improvement defined by the Operations management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate supplier, internal, and external quality management system performance as assigned.
  • Resolution of supplier, internal, and external quality management system non-conformances through rigorous application of established problem-solving methodologies to determine root cause and identify relevant corrective action.
  • Validate effectiveness of root causes taken to resolve non-conformances.
  • Facilitate or lead kaizen events related to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support or lead continuous improvement projects approved by Operations management team.
  • Administrate internal and supplier audit programs to enforce process discipline.
  • Administrate controlled documentation systems to retain organizational knowledge.
  • Administrate employee training programs supporting quality management systems competency across the organization.
  • Maintain quality management system supporting IT applications such as Oracle Inspection tools, Simco Database, Everest, SharePoint, and WebI reporting.
  • Lead or assist in other Operations initiatives, as required.

Education and/or Work Experience

  • Four-year Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a technical field
  • Demonstrated leadership to organize different groups of people towards common goals and objectives.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and execute a group strategy to achieve local quality goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/tasks with timely completion.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • Understanding of general metrology techniques and requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage supplier & customer quality issue resolution.
  • Understanding and application of inspection and testing techniques, including sampling plan
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including the use of Root Cause/Corrective Action techniques, such as 5-Why’s, Fishbone diagrams, Error-Proofing concepts, etc.
  • Applied understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to understand blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Understanding and application of basic statistical techniques, such as DOE, process capability, and GR&R
  • Travel generally not required.
