Data Modeling & Data Visualization

Summary

The incumbent is responsible for implementing data analytics strategies that provide insights, identify opportunities, support decision making and improve business operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Create an intake and prioritization process for Data Analytics requests, provide recommendations on prioritization based on business value and risk
  2. Transform raw data into relevant insights via interactive and simple-to-understand dashboards and reports
  3. Perform a wide range of tasks such as reporting, building dashboards, building data models, analyzing datasets, and administration of Power BI tools
  4. Work with key stakeholders to address high-priority questions and deliverables:
    1. Ask questions and quickly understand complex problems.
    2. Identify key components that should drive decision making. Define the problem to be solved.
    3. Determine potential analytical tools and solutions. Explain tradeoffs to stakeholders.
    4. Select methods, including homegrown and 3rd party software - build tools and analyses
  5. Create & maintain training content (Power BI, Power Query, Subscriptions) to enable a super-user network for data & analytics and to promote self-service analytics
  6. Lead modernization of the data analytical landscape, drive automation, process improvements and better roll out of BI tools across the organization
  7. Provide thought leadership to enable the analytical processes within Hyperion MT, including but not limited to defining the controls necessary to drive data integrity which is a key success factor for business metrics & insights
  8. Lead and support data-based modeling/projects to support better understanding and better decision making within the business functions. Develop descriptive, predictive and prescriptive tools for Hyperion MT business strategies.
  9. Data modeling experience
    1. hands on experience with physical and relational data modeling
    2. organizing data correctly and optimizing into an information system to help achieve critical objectives
    3. knowledge of platform technologies
    4. experience with data warehouses & big data platforms
    5. knowledge of data modeling principles, including conceptual and logical data models
    6. ability to utilize BI tools to represent insights

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience

  • BS or MS in computer science or information system along with work experience in a related field
  • 10+ years of experience successfully delivering significant data & analytics projects within dynamic & complex environments, including driving adoption of solutions.
  • 10+ years of experience in Power BI and other Microsoft technical stack tools & solutions (Power BI, Azure, Fabric)
  • 10+ years of experience in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing large-scale data & analytics solutions
  • Experience implementing data governance, especially data quality management to deliver “trusted” data foundation
  • Cloud native data architecture and analytics
  • Hands-on experience of working as a data architect/solutions architect
  • Experience influencing decisions across cross-functional stakeholders
  • Change management experience driving change in data analytics implementation and adoption of tools/solutions
  • Leadership and/or oversight of architects designing individual components of a solution
  • Proven success in requirements elicitation & comprehension to deliver the right data & analytics solutions
  • Experience in building and delivering KPIs and business insights to support Manufacturing, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Procurement and Finance business areas
  • Strong hands-on experience on cloud-based Azure and AWS Data platform Solutions
  • Strong understanding and experience on Data warehouse, ETL and BI Concepts
  • Strong understanding and experience with Big Data frameworks and tools: Hadoop, Spark, Python, etc.

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience working with the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack (Power BI, Power Query, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS and SQL)
  • 8+ years' experience with DAX, Tabular Editor or similar tools
  • Understanding of JavaScript, CSS, SQL, and other JavaScript libraries
  • 5+ years’ experience working with Microsoft cloud data services (Azure, Power BI Premium, Fabric)
  • Data modeling techniques
  • Cloud native data architecture and analytics
  • Process driven mindset & focus
  • Facilitation & communication skills to work across all levels in the organization
  • Deep technical experience in ERP platforms highlighting connectivity between Sales, Customer Service, Operations and Supply Chain processes
  • Experience in using mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze and drive business decisions
  • Strong understanding and proven experience with Business Intelligence platforms
  • Ability to write detailed reports and develop standardized tools and methods
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Work well with peers, and superiors in all departments as well as external contacts
  • 15% travel required
