Application Engineer

Summary:       

The Application Engineer for Carbide Rolls is responsible for designing and implementing solutions and products for the Carbide rolls segment, bridging customer’s needs and production capabilities, preparing internal offers to our sales offices, and supporting the commercial team with key technical activities related to our products and process that helps customers achieve its objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of a rolling mill environment and our applications, demonstrating proficiency in evaluating operational loads and demands of our products and materials during use.
  • Provide technical & quality support by interacting with external customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams
  • Execute design calculations, conduct risk assessments, and create detailed constructive drawings following customer's specifications and productive constrains.
  • Execute offer preparations for the sales team
  • Participate in the analysis of quality complaints and productive non-conformities when related to Rolling Mill / Steel Industry process or product design
  • Perform technical presentations to customers
  • Provide Rolling Mill / Steel Industry process information to carry out R&D activities and plan and support field tests
  • Gather and forward the relevant information regarding alternative competitive solutions or advancements in the industry
  • Participate in trade shows and other Rolling Mill / Steel Industry events
  • Collaborate with the segment in data analysis and reporting, leveraging analytical insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Support and execute structural calculations of the products (MatLab, FEM Analysis, others)
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for the Application Engineering Team                                                                         

Education and/or Work Experience:

  • Industrial Engineer (Mechanics or Materials specialization)
  • Two to four years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related field

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proven understanding of engineering fundamentals with solid conceptual skills.
  • Fluent English is desirable
  • International travel is required for at least 30% of the time.
  • Rolling Mill / Steel Industry / Machine industry experience will be considered a differential
  • Knowledge of casting processes will be considered a differential
