Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading and executing the procurement strategy for the sites and categories assigned, with a strong focus on strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management. The Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Legal, to identify and select suppliers that align with the company's objectives. This role involves developing and implementing procurement policies, optimizing costs and payment terms, mitigating risks, improving supply security, and driving supplier performance. This is a key leadership position that requires exceptional strategic thinking, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills.
- Lead strategic category management for both direct and indirect spend at multiple manufacturing sites
- Responsible for achieving KPIs relating to Cost, Quality, Service, and Supplier Management
- Drive the development and implementation of category strategies
- Develop and implement standard procurement policies and procedures within assigned categories of responsibility
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that optimize costs, mitigate risks, and improve supplier performance
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and on-time delivery of goods and services
- Manage a team of Procurement professionals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish requirements, specifications, and criteria for supplier selection
- Lead supplier performance management activities, including scorecard reviews, business reviews, and supplier development programs
- Develop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, evaluate supplier capabilities and negotiate contracts and pricing
- Manage procurement projects from inception to completion, including supplier selection, contracting, and supplier onboarding
- Ensure compliance with, and use of, global and local contracts
- Drive annual cost improvement projects with key suppliers focused on total cost of ownership
- Secure compliance to Hyperion Supplier Code of Conduct
- Issue PO’s and manage open orders as required
- Coordinate with planning & production to mitigate supply disruptions
Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make strategic decisions
- Strong management skills to lead a team and help them meet or exceed expectations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with global suppliers and managing international supply chains
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software systems
- Experience working with ERP and MRP systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or Infor M3.
- Must be able to travel on occasion and manage multiple sites. Travel is < 15%
Education and/or Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, engineering or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, with a proven track record of driving cost savings and improving supplier performance
